Your Money: Squeezed in the ‘club sandwich’ generation?

Bruce Helmer and Peg WebbFor decades, the term “sandwich generation” has generally applied to adults (mostly women) taking care of their aging parents and minor children at the same time. But as baby boomers age out of the sandwich generation, their replacements, estimated to be about a quarter of U.S. adults, are facing new challenges. For one, Gen-Xers and millennials are beginning to take care of their (now aging) parents while still supporting adult kids — at home or otherwise — and, in some cases, their grandchildren (the “club sandwich” generation). What does this changing demographic look like? Nearly three out of four are aged 40 to 59, generally more affluent, mostly married adults, and have at least a bachelor’s degree. And, according to a 2022 Pew Research Center study, they’re more “pressed for time” and more likely to be behind on meeting personal financial goals, such as saving for retirement or paying off credit card debt. What impact does being a member of the sandwich ...Kickin’ It with Kiz: Bad football beating the Broncomania out of NFL’s most loyal fans

I am so over this Broncos team. You work so hard to get off the waiting list for season tickets, and I’ve had mine since 2016. We’ve stunk all eight seasons. I’m not even going to the games anymore.James, ErieKiz: Broncomania isn’t dead yet, but during my 40 years covering sports in Colorado, I’ve never heard from so many local folks seeking a cure for their unhealthy addiction to the Orange and Blue. As your sports doctor, let me prescribe a spoonful of the sunshine that is Nikola Jokic. Apply ice to your pain by watching Cale Makar skate. Or maybe try a daily dose of Coach Prime. Never in the history of our fair state have there been so many better ways for fans to spend their time and dime than to waste emotional energy on a lost NFL team.I woke up Thursday for the game against the Chiefs and put on one of my Broncos shirts. I work from home and didn’t have any on-camera meetings scheduled. But I changed my shirt only 10 minutes later, because I was embarrassed at the...6 shot — 3 fatally — at party in industrial area of east Denver, police say

Whether it was getting run off the field against USC or allowing late touchdowns to lose to Sacramento State and Arizona, first-year Stanford coach Troy Taylor would spend a lot of the postgame talking to his players to make sure they weren’t demoralized. He stopped doing those check-ins after a few weeks when he saw they weren’t necessary.“I realized that these guys are never going to quit,” Taylor said. “They’re never going to stop preparing and competing.”That attitude was displayed to a national audience in Friday night’s 46-43 double-overtime win over Colorado – at least those who didn’t turn the game off at halftime, when Stanford trailed 29-0.The Cardinal (2-4, 1-3 Pac-12) completed the largest comeback in school history and the fourth-largest in Pac-12 history to stun the sellout crowd at Colorado (4-3, 1-3).“Guys easily could have kind of given up a little bit,” Taylor said. “But they have never done that since I’ve been here and I’m just really proud.
