AUSTIN (KXAN) — Nearly a year and a half after professional cyclist Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson was shot and killed at an Austin home last May, jury selection in the trial of the woman accused of murdering Wilson began Monday. Kaitlin Armstrong trial: Cameras only allowed for opening, closing statements Kaitlin Armstrong was charged in relation to Wilson's death. Armstrong pleaded not guilty in July 2022, with her arrest and plea following a 43-day fugitive hunt tracking her from Austin to Costa Rica, where she was ultimately arrested and detained.The jury has been selected and Armstrong's trial is set to begin Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Austin. MANOR, Texas (KXAN) -- Manor city council will vote Wednesday on a proposed pay structure that will decide how much each member is compensated each month they serve in office. The current proposal received no input from the community and would create a tiered pay structure that would give more money to members who take on more responsibilities. A tiered pay structure The pay structure would be in four tiers. As members take on more responsibilities and duties within the city, they will be compensated more per month. The mayor would make at least $875 per month with a maximum limit of $3,500. Council members would make at least $625 per month with a maximum limit of $2,500. Tier one is the basic amount of involvement for council members, including attending the two monthly city council meetings and other public meetings at city hall. ST. LOUIS - Emergency crews are responding to a house fire in south St. Louis on Wednesday morning. Our Nissan Rogue Runner reporter, Nic Lopez, captured footage of the scene on the 6400 block of Idaho Avenue, where the two-story home saw the heavy fire begin on the first floor, eventually spreading to the second floor, causing the roof to collapse. LOUIS - The next round of funding for the Illinois electric car rebate program opens on Wednesday.Illinois started the program last year to encourage people to buy electric vehicles and to reduce vehicle emissions and greenhouse gases. People who buy a new or used all-electric car from an Illinois-licensed dealer and apply within 90 days will be eligible for a $4,000 rebate. Paonia State Park is closed for the season now, but when it reopens on May 1, 2024, kayakers, paddleboarders and canoers may have more reason to show up, at least on Tuesdays.Colorado Parks and Wildlife is considering closing the boat ramp in the park once a week to motorized vessels in future summers, something it has also done at Highline State Park.
