4 astronauts head home from space station after hurricane passes through Florida (CNN) — Four astronauts concluded their six-month stay aboard the International Space Station on Sunday and are heading for a splashdown off the coast of Florida days after Hurricane Idalia ravaged parts of the state.The astronauts, members of the Crew-6 mission run jointly by NASA and SpaceX, boarded their Crew Dragon capsule on Sunday and departed the space station at 7:05 a.m. ET. The crew is expected to spend one day aboard the 13-foot-wide vehicle as it maneuvers through Earth’s orbit and toward its target landing site.The Crew Dragon capsule is expected to splashdown at 12:17 a.m. ET.NASA said that it had been monitoring the impact of Hurricane Idalia, which made landfall Wednesday morning on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Franklin Park Zoo announces death of Kamaia, their 14-year-old lion Zoo New England’s Franklin Park Zoo announced Sunday that after further health decline, Kamaia, their 14-year-old lion, was humanely euthanized on Saturday.Zoo New England said Kamaia has battled several health issues including a bout with severe pneumonia from which he recovered and other chronic health issues. On June 9, he underwent a successful splenectomy and blood transfusion. Prior to this surgery, an exam revealed that Kamaia was severely anemic with a greatly enlarged spleen. Kamaia underwent a second surgery to repair a hernia at his incision site. Man injured in Mission Beach motorcycle crash SAN DIEGO -- A man was injured Sunday afternoon after crashing his motorcycle in Mission Beach, authorities said.According to the San Diego Police Department, a 21-year-old man was riding his 2008 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle westbound towards the parking lot at 2600 N Jetty Rd. around 2:30 p.m. when the incident occurred. Dogs die in southeast Austin house fire AUSTIN (KXAN) — A structure fire in the 7500 block of Cayenne Lane in Austin was put out Sunday afternoon, according to a post on social media by the Austin Fire Department (AFD).AFD said that no one was home when the fire started.
