WCPD added the couple would "follow the victim and claim the victim dropped a bill of some value and while the victim is distracted, take their wallet or debit card." Man pleads guilty to hacking social media accounts, stealing cryptocurrency Once the debit card is stolen, the card would be used to make purchases or withdraw large amounts of cash from an ATM.WCPD did not specify when and where in the area residents are more at risk of being victims of this kind of crime, the department said when asked in the comments section of the Facebook post. OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- Is the school year completely over for Oakland public school students? According to the union, the cancelation underscored the district's leadership failures.Thousands of teachers will not return to their classrooms until a new contract agreement is reached that includes "common good" proposals, the union said.OUSD has kept its schools "open" throughout the strike, but most students chose to stay home rather than cross picket lines. The teachers' strike "should never have happened in the first place," district officials wrote. OUSD President Mike Hutchinson reiterated that...Stantec: Q1 Earnings Snapshot

VALHALLA, N.Y. (AP) — President Joe Biden on Wednesday blasted Republican-demanded spending cuts as “devastating,” making his case in a campaign-style speech to voters as lawmakers met in Washington on raising the government’s borrowing limit to avoid a potentially catastrophic U.S. default. The president is showing an increased willingness to discuss possible budget restraints, yet he insisted anew that any talks on that should occur without the risk of the federal government being unable to pay its bills. As he spoke, negotiators from the White House and Congress met for two hours privately at the Capitol to discuss a path forward.“America is the strongest economy in the world, but we should be cutting spending and lowering the deficit without a needless crisis,” Biden said Wednesday. His words were a challenge to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who met Tuesday with Biden at the White House, declaring afterward that sharp spending cuts were required for House Republicans t...Search for St. Louis prosecutor Gardner’s replacement begins
