(AP) — Montana Republican leaders will vote Wednesday on censuring or expelling lawmaker Zooey Zephyr, a transgender state representative who has been silenced in the House since last week after telling colleagues that if they voted for a bill to ban gender-affirming medical care for transgender children they would “have blood on their hands.”On Tuesday night, Zephyr tweeted a letter she received from House leaders informing her of the plan to consider disciplinary action against her during Wednesday's session.“I’ve also been told I’ll get a chance to speak," Zephyr tweeted. Austin Energy online utility payment glitch lasted 4 months AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Energy customers using the city’s “Digital Self Service” system to pay their utility bill online may have run into website malfunctions this past fall and winter. City records reveal the payment system failed intermittently for four months – from September through mid-January – sporadically hampering an unknown number of customers trying to settle their utility accounts. Are some Austin seniors paying a utility fee they don’t have to? During the timeframe of the website malfunction, the city also took in hundreds of thousands of dollars each month in late payment fees, according to records obtained by KXAN through the Texas Public Information Act. It is possible some customers who faced payment website malfunctions were also hit with late fees, but it isn’t clear how many because the city said it didn’t track that data.A spokesperson for Austin Energy, which handles utility billing, said they would waive the late fee for customers who felt they couldn’t pay ...

Renovated carousel coming to Austin with horses honoring Carol Burnett, other Texans AUSTIN (KXAN) — A handwritten letter from Carol Burnett greenlighted part of a project to revive an old Texas carousel coming to Austin. The Magistery, a 1917 carousel from San Antonio, last went 'round in 1980—over 50 years ago. It's getting new life in Austin with plans to reopen later in 2023. How Austin became the ‘Live Music Capital of the World’ Carousel owner Damon Jones said his vision for the remodeled carousel was to inject some Texas life into it with horses honoring famous Texans. One of those horses will be modeled after Carol Burnett and her legacy. The idea for the Carol Burnett horse came with the carousel. Jones said he inherited a letter from her team in support of earlier carousel restoration work. "So I sent her a letter," he said. Driver shot and killed, 3 injured, crashes into vacant house trying to avoid gunfire ST. LOUIS - One man is dead, and three others are hurt after the truck they are in is shot at, then crashes into a vacant home overnight in south St. Louis. The case is being investigated as a homicide. Police told FOX 2 the pick-up driver was shot in the face or neck area before the truck crashed into the house. At this point, police don't know much about the shooter.Police rushed to the scene at Chippewa Street and Nebraska Avenue a little before 11:30 p.m. We're told the original response was for a "shots fired" call, but then more details unfolded. Officers shared that four people were in a truck driving on Chippewa, when someone started shooting at the vehicle. The driver started reversing to try and get away.
