San Jose office building lands in default, faces foreclosure seizure SAN JOSE — A big San Jose office and research building has toppled into a default on its real estate loan in a reminder the Bay Area commercial property markets face plenty of post-coronavirus financial challenges.The property’s lender claims that the loan for the building, which is located at 5729 Fontanoso Way in south San Jose, has become delinquent and is threatening to foreclose on the mortgage and seize the property, according to documents filed on July 18 with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.In May 2022, Saratoga-based Atlas Capital Investments paid $27.4 million to buy the building, which totals 78,200 square feet and occupies a 4.7-acre site.At the time of the transaction, Atlas Capital obtained a loan of $18.4 million from Evergreen Advantage to finance the purchase. Man, four minors arrested after San Jose home invasion, attempted homicide (KRON) -- A man and four minors were arrested after a home invasion that left a victim with a gunshot wound, the San Jose Police Department said. One-alarm fire sparks at Pier 28 along the Embarcadero The home invasion happened on June 11. Police were called to a home invasion and attempted homicide on the 100 block of Bendorf Drive. A victim at the home was shot during the crime; they were taken to a local hospital and later stabilized. Robbery Unit Detectives with SJPD identified 20-year-old Evan Haley and four minors as suspects in the robbery. The detectives obtained search warrants for each of their residences. Inside their homes, police found five handguns including one ghost gun and four unregistered firearms. Extended magazines, drum magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were also found in the searches. 43-year-old man goes missing in Monterey (KRON) -- Several agencies are searching for a missing man in Monterey on Tuesday, the Monterey Police Department said. One-alarm fire sparks along the Embarcadero near Pier 28 Salvatore Lucido, 43, of Monterey walked away from his home on David Avenue. Lucido suffers from seizures, police said. MPD is collaborating with the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, Pacific Grove Police Department, CalFire, Monterey Community Emergency Response Team and Pebble Beach employees in the search. Man rescued near McCovey Cove after falling into SF Bay SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A man who fell into the water near McCovey Cove Tuesday morning was successfully rescued, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. The man was in the water clinging to a pier, according to SFFD.Rescue units were dispatched shortly after 6 a.m. and situation was resolved by 7 a.m. Carjacking reported in area right before car flew off Sanchez Street Stairs in SF The man reportedly looked over the rail and fell into the water, where he remained for about 10 minutes. He was located in the cove near Lefty O'Doul Bridge.
