1 teen killed, 2 others hospitalized in Corona crash

Police are investigating a fatal crash that left a teenager dead and two others hospitalized in Corona on Tuesday.The three victims were all 16 to 17 years old, according to the Corona Police Department.Officers responded to a crash at the intersection of El Sobrante Road and Circle City Drive around 8:34 a.m.Upon arriving at the scene, three teenagers were found inside an overturned vehicle.One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver and another passenger were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries where they remain in stable condition, authorities said.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.“At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor,” said police. After a slew of damaging storms to start the year, the IRS and California Franchise Tax Board extended the 2022 tax filing deadline to October 16 for most California counties, including Los Angeles.The original deadline would have fallen on April 18 for individual filers, and March 15 for some businesses, but 41 of California’s 58 counties can now take advantage of an extra six months after being declared disaster areas by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).“The IRS automatically provides filing and penalty relief to any taxpayer with an IRS address of record located in the disaster area,” The IRS wrote in a press release. “Therefore, taxpayers do not need to contact the agency to get this relief.”Most Southern Californians filing individually, or for business, qualify for the extension, short of those filing in Kern and Imperial County. Closures slated for Highway 101, State Route 17

SANTA CLARA COUNTY – Temporary closures of Highway 101 and State Route 17 are slated to begin Thursday, according to the California Department of Transportation.Highway 101 will be closed at De La Cruz Boulevard/Trimble Road to remove an old freeway overcrossing, Caltrans said in an advisory. From 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., southbound lanes will be closed Thursday-Friday and northbound lanes will be closed April 3-6. (KRON) -- A former security guard at an Antioch high school was fired after allegedly having inappropriate contact with a student, the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office confirmed to KRON4. He now faces new charges in relation to a second incident involving lewd acts with a minor. 'Suspicious death' reported near Uptown Oakland Christopher George Miller, 30, was employed as a Site Safety substitute at Deer Valley High School for a total of seven days in 2022, the Antioch Unified School District told KRON4. During that time, a parent told high school administrators that Miller had had an "inappropriate exchange" with her daughter, a minor named as Jane Doe #1 in court documents to protect her privacy. Anti-transgender sentiment follows school shooting

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Six people -- three adults and three children -- were killed in a shooting at The Covenant School Monday in Nashville. The shooter, 28-year-old Audrey Hale, was a former student of the school.Police said today that the motive is still unknown. Hale was under the care of a doctor for an emotional disorder but was able to legally purchase seven firearms and use three of them in the shooting.There is now a back-and-forth between lawmakers about gun reform.
